Remember When

Remember when you were a little child?  Mom and Dad wanted you to stay close by when you were out somewhere. Maybe at the mall? They would caution you to stay with them? But we thought we were big enough to look around by ourselves or maybe we just got distracted by the noise and the sights and wandered off. But when something scary happened or we realized that we were lost we would call out for them in our need?

Some of us might think “Well I am grown up now, I know what’s best for me.” Or we get distracted by the noise and sights of the world and wander away from God. But then scary things happen (epidemics, financial crisis, loss of jobs, protests, and riots). If you want to come running back or call out to God… he is ready.

King David writes in Psalm 34  “I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”

Amen to that!    If you have been going through these difficulties without seeking God’s help. If you have been struggling without the encouragement of your brothers and sisters in Christ (either in person or online). It’s time to get more of the help we so desperately need. Go to God in prayer. Join us tonight at 7 pm on Zoom if at all possible.

“Blessed is the one who takes refuge in the Lord.”
